What to expect in the 2023 Super Bowl

Posted 01 Feb 2023

Super Bowl 57 is the peak of the 2022-23 NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles have been pushing themselves game after game to reach this moment. Now, they stand just one game away from hitting their ultimate goal of becoming champions. So, let’s look at the game before us and see what to expect on 12 February.

First, the game will be held in Glendale, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium. It will be the third time in league history that Arizona has played host for the Super Bowl, doing so in 2008 and again in 2015, then finally in 1996. Both of those previous matchups in Arizona turned out to be historical matchups. The first was the New York Giants' 17-14 win over the New England Patriots. The second was the Patriots' 28-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks.  The final was when the Dallas Cowboys took down the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17.

Rihanna Super Bowl 2023 Halftime Show trailer | EW.com

We could be set for a stunning performance when this game reaches halftime. Rihanna has been tapped as the headliner in one of the year's biggest shows. One quote that stood out in the announcement was this, “Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever.” She will undoubtedly be the leading performer during the show, which will appeal to a diverse range of people and provide excellent entertainment. She’s got some big shoes to fill after Super Bowl 56. Last year’s halftime show saw Dr Dre headline a show-stopping group of legendary names in music. Rihanna has spoken about the upcoming performance, saying, “I can’t believe I even said yes. It was one of those things that even when I announced it, I was like, okay, I can’t take it back. Now it’s like final. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world; it’s an entertainer’s dream to be on a stage like that.” No matter where you are watching from, this could be a show that goes down in history.

You might be in a challenging situation if you also plan on getting tickets to show up at the game. Super Bowl tickets are currently landing in a super expensive range. The cheapest tickets popping up are listed at $6,000, but the most expensive tickets are far over the $20,000 mark. Simply put, it’s not cheap to head down to Arizona and view the biggest sporting event of the year. However, you can sit down and view it on television as the event usually draws millions of eyes.

Chiefs-Eagles: Super Bowl LVII predictions, picks, odds, questions

As for the actual game, it has the potential to be one of the best in league history. The Kansas City Chiefs took down the Cincinnati Bengals to get to this point. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the rest of this offense have been consistently great all year. Mahomes is looking to win his second Super Bowl in Kansas City with a very young defense. The Chiefs might seem like something other than the dominant team here, but they have always found ways to win with Mahomes and Kelce leading the way. These guys are picking up wins left and right. As for their opponents, the Philadelphia Eagles, they were a massive surprise. Nobody expected the Eagles to be THIS good at the beginning of the year. Jalen Hurts took the leap to become an MVP candidate, AJ Brown and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson were added from trades, and Ndamukong Suh was picked up in the free agency. This team made all the right moves and improved in all the right places to get here. Not to mention that they’ve blown out the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers in their two previous playoff games.

Both offenses have been excellent this season, and it could turn out to be a very high-scoring game. This certainly doesn’t seem like one of those games’ worth missing, and the fact that it’s in Arizona might make it even more iconic. After all, the previous matchups held here have been just as great.
